On 25 May, artists Glen and Nick from Campbelltown Art Centre visited the school to run a dance workshop for our Indigenous kids in Years 7 to 10.
The morning started with some basic movement and getting to know the exercises. After some serious stretching, they settled down to learn some choreography. By lunchtime, the students could do the choreography without the help of the choreographers.
Seeing Glen do the steps with the extra strike and speed really transformed the dance from a simple dance to a professional Aboriginal performance. Students cannot wait until the next workshop to refine their technique.
