Rosemeadow Public School attended an ‘On Country’ professional learning experience.
Staff began their day at Kentlyn, where they learned the history of Bull Cave and its cultural significance to the Dharawal people.
All staff then engaged in following three Aboriginal educational rotations at Cataract Dam:
- An Appin Massacre lesson, presented by the Campbelltown Local AECG Vice President.
- An Inspirational yarn up, presented by a local Digital Artist.
- A Gujaga Foundation language song, presented by an Aboriginal RPS classroom teacher who is a Kari/DoE vocalise program member.
The Wiritjiribin Aboriginal Youth Dance Group performed some deadly dances.
Through this cultural immersion, RPS staff have a deeper understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people and communities. Staff learned about local areas and geography. RPS educators can now apply these experiences and implement them in the classroom.
