What a day of celebrating and learning. First our First Nations students lead an assembly where we all came together to learn and understand the NAIDOC theme for 2024: Keep the Fire Burning! BLAK, LOUD & PROUD.
We had a special guest – former student Alexis Stewart-Conner – come and have a yarn to us about what school was like when she attended and how life has changed and great achievements in life. Most of us would like to be her when we grow up.
Our First Nations kids did welcome dances and sang a song – they were DEADLY.
Alexis and Lyn, AECG leaders, acknowledged our JAECG and gave them badges because they are great role models and leaders within the school. So proud of them.
The whole school enjoyed doing different actives all day, including painting, learning about Mob and role models and leaders, playing games, weaving, and learning how to make lemon myrtle drink and having a taste.
We all really enjoyed it and hope to do it every year.
